“Not only the Netherlands, but also world’s investors are interested to develop Priok [port],” said Indonesian Chamber of Commerce vice deputy of fix committee for sea transportation Anwar Satta when interviewed by VIVAnews in Jakarta on Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Several  investors, not only coming from the Netherlands, have been sounding their investments to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce.

Satta said that it will take at least hundred of millions US dollar to realize the development.

“[Related to the financing], the government should involve private party is they cannot fund it by themselves or give entirely to the private party,” he said.

He added that it will be enough for the government to prepare Priok to become an international port in five years. “[The government] can do a ground breaking in five years,” he said.

The urgency reforming Priok into an international port has appeared due to the incoming and outgoing flow of goods at the port. The development of containers activity has increased to 5 million TEU in 2009 from the previous 300,000 TEU.
